One-week training of trainers on gender-responsive budgeting for Commonwealth of Independent States conducted in Russia

It is expected, that the participants are now equipped with skills to incorporate gender-responsive budgeting (GRB) in the curricula of their countries. Animated by Dr. Sheila Quinn, an international GRB expert, the attendees will contribute to designing a basic Manual on GRB teaching, proving the country academies with relevant knowledge and assistance in their further training endeavors region wide.
RPANEPA executives, representatives of UN Women Subregional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia as well as UN Women Project Manager for the Russian Federation presented welcome remarks at the workshop inception. They briefed the trainees on the GRB Center of Excellence’s goals and focus areas, as well the workshop’s agenda.
Professor Igor Bartsits, Dean of the International Institute of Public Administration and Management at RPANEPA, emphasized a particular relevance of gender issues and especially gender-responsive budgeting for Russia and CIS. He stressed the interest in expanding cooperation with UN Women under the Center’s umbrella and expressed willingness to render all and every support in its future operations.
