The first national survey on violence against women and girls in public space contains overview of international reports on VAWG in public spaces and situation in Serbia, legal and strategic framework regarding this topic, and analysis of research conducted with participation of 1212 woman and girls older than 15 years throughout Serbia. The survey included question of feeling of security and the level of fear of certain forms of crime, assessment of the state of security in public spaces, degree of satisfaction of the respondents with the work of local authorities, the recognition of actors and factors that have an impact on personal safety of the respondents, evaluation of the work of institutions, data on the prevalence of various forms of violence against women in public spaces, personal strategies that keep themselves safe, exposure to violence, etc. Moreover it gives recommendations to improve public safety of women and girls.
