Multistakeholder Consultation for the Western Balkans and Türkiye ahead of the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women

The UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina are organizing a subregional multistakeholder consultation for the Western Balkans and Türkiye. The event aims to support the region in preparing for the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), scheduled from 11 to 22 March 2024, under the priority theme “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective.”

Representatives from relevant ministries, national mechanisms for the advancement of women, civil society, academia, and the private sector will convene to discuss the opportunities, challenges, and the way froward in shaping the sub-regional vision. Key topics of discussion include addressing poverty and financing with a gender perspective, unpaid care work and the care economy, social protection, and labor force issues, with the aim of developing concrete recommendations for the CSW68 session.

Moreover, participants will collaborate on agreeing upon joint messages, sharing best practices, and identifying main actions needed to effect the necessary changes during this half-day consultation. A report summarizing the key discussions will be prepared to capture the outcomes of the event.

English is the working language of the event. Simultaneous translation will be provided in Albanian, Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, Montenegrin, Macedonian, and Turkish.
