Women’s Entrepreneurship Satellite Expo 2023 in Türkiye

UN Women Türkiye, KAGIDER and HepsiBurada will organize the “Gender Responsive Economic Recovery: Growing the Economy with Women’s Businesses.” This event is a direct follow-up to the initiative launched by UN Women Türkiye in 2022 with the Gender Responsive Procurement Summit. Just like last year, this event will also be closely aligned with the Women’s Entrepreneurship Expo 2023, organized by UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia.

However, this year’s efforts are particularly focused on providing support to women entrepreneurs and women’s cooperatives in the earthquake-stricken region of Türkiye, in response to the devastating earthquakes that occurred on February 6^th, 2023. The primary objective is to equip approximately 50 women entrepreneurs and women’s cooperatives affected by the earthquake with practical skills and tools to facilitate their swift economic recovery in the aftermath of this catastrophe. The revival of women-owned business and the regional economy is crucial for rebuilding from the ground up. 

The event will feature three parallel workstreams: 

1. Gender responsive procurement support (ongoing until the end of 2023)
2. One-day event in Hatay, geared to support women’s businesses
3. Equipment and refurbishment support to KAGIDER Co-working space in Hatay
