"Accelerating digitalization in Europe and Central Asia: Partnerships on innovation and technology for women's economic empowerment"

The event, convened by UN Women and co-hosted by the Republic of Kazakhstan, aims to serve as a pivotal moment for Generation Equality by energizing and expanding on its bold agenda to accelerate women’s economic empowerment through technology and innovation. Building on the Global Midpoint Event (held on 17th September 2023 in New York), the Generation Equality Midpoint Regional Event presents an important opportunity to garner sustained attention towards accelerating digitalization for gender equality in Europe and Central Asia. The event will assess progress, spotlight best practices, and expand commitments in the areas of digitalization, innovation and technology.

Generation Equality Midpoint Regional Event

UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan will co-host the Generation Equality Regional Midpoint event themed “Accelerating digitalization in Europe and Central Asia: Partnerships on innovation and technology for women’s economic empowerment” in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The event will bring together stakeholders from diverse sectors from across Europe and Central Asia to take stock of the progress and enhance existing commitments under UN Women’s global Generation Equality initiative.

The midpoint event will host panels on reducing the digital gender divide and women and girls’ leadership in innovation ecosystems. Additionally, the event will welcome new commitment-makers to the Generation Equality journey and spotlight their commitments.

In alignment with the agreed conclusions of the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, the event aims to provide a unique opportunity for stakeholders from various sectors to come together, assess their progress, and forge new commitments towards advancing gender equality through innovation and technology.
