The infographic unveils the stark realities of domestic violence and access to justice in North Macedonia through a comprehensive data analysis and visualization. A dedicated team of government officials and civil society activists meticulously delved into official statistics, publicly available research and open sources to deep dive into this specific issue. The analysis uncovered a troubling 61% surge in domestic violence complaints from 2018 to 2022, yet only 24% of cases made it to court, with a mere 1% resulting in prison sentences by 2022. This eye-opening product will serve as an advocacy tool to champion effective policies and programmes that ensure the safety of all women and girls within their homes.

This infographic was created as part of the Gender Data Bootcamp in Izmir, Türkiye, a collaborative effort between the School of Data, UN Women's "Gender Equality Facility" project in North Macedonia and the "Making Every Woman and Girl Count" regional programme for Europe and Central Asia.
