This toolkit on 'Being Gender Aware with Arpi' follows 12-year-old Arpi's journey in becoming gender aware. Through Arpi, young readers are introduced to gender concepts, unlocking girls' potential in STEM, and building girls' confidence for further and continuous involvement in STEM fields.

This interactive toolkit with three modules looks at entries in Arpi's diary and engages young readers in conversation and activities. The first module touches on gender, gender stereotypes and education, while the second module busts myths surrounding gender stereotypes and girl in STEM, and introduces readers to STEM skills and opportunities. The last module challenges gender bias and shares examples of successful women in STEM, from mathematics to technology, and women in astronomy, health, chemistry, communication, education, engineering and leadership, as role models for girls.

This toolkit has been produced by UN Women and UNICEF under the joint UN project ‘Accelerating Women’s Empowerment for Economic Resilience and Renewal: The post-COVID-19 reboot in Armenia’, implemented by UNDP, UNIDO, UNICEF and UN Women.
