UN Women BiH, with the support of Mediacentar Sarajevo, carried out a study of media reporting on gender-responsive budgeting and the journalists’ needs for this type of training. This study focuses on a specific part of economic journalism, namely that of covering public budgetary processes and the role of journalism in raising public awareness about budgeting, with special focus on gender responsive budgeting. The research methodology was focused on the baseline analysis of the media’s capacity to cover this particular field, along with an analysis of media content, journalists’ experiences to date and their general needs in this respect. The research was carried out in the period from November 2021 to January 2022 and was based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, including content analysis, journalist survey and semistructured interviews with experts in this field.
