Capacity needs assessment of women’s groups and civil society organizations advocating for gender equality and women’s rights in Ukraine

Women’s civil society organisations have driven and continue to drive national action on gender equality as they often have the greatest understanding of the challenges that women and girls face, and essential knowledge on how to advance their rights. Following the principle "Nothing about us, without us," this study aims to better understand the capacity of women's organisations in Ukraine as the first step to support them in strengthening their activities on the promotion of gender equality and women's empowerment.

The "Capacity needs assessment of women’s groups and civil society organizations in Ukraine" is designed to create a baseline against which to measure future capacity development efforts. The findings of this assessment can be used by the civil society, the government stakeholders and the donor community in their planning, coordination and capacity building initiatives. The preliminary results of this study shared and validated by UN Women Ukraine in 2019, have already informed several capacity-building initiatives of the international development partners to grow the capacity of women’s groups in Ukraine.
