Development of social enterprises: Potential for job creation for disadvantaged groups

Focusing on the regions of Tirana, Durrësi and Elbasani, this study provides an overview of the development of social enterprises in Albania and identifies their characteristics and potential for development It assesses the capacities of unemployed girls and women, and examines how state institutions, local businesses and civil society organizations (CSOs) can support employment and looks at their potential to create jobs for disadvantaged groups of women and girls.

The study also reviews Albanian social enterprises’ legal status, their activities, beneficiaries, social services offered, the impact of their activities on disadvantaged groups, particularly among women and girls, their development challenges and need for support services.
