UN Women Türkiye effectively leads, coordinates, and promotes accountability for the implementation of gender equality and women’s empowerment commitments across the UN system in the country.

Following the successful facilitation of the adoption of gender equality and women’s empowerment as a stand-alone pillar and its mainstreaming under six outcomes in the previous country framework for 2016-2020, UN Women Türkiye continues to chair the Result Group on Women’s Empowerment with a standout outcome under the new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) cycle for 2021-2025 and supports the delivery and monitoring of this outcome.UN Türkiye Result Group on Women’s Empowerment ensures gender mainstreaming in UNSDCF 2021-2025 planning and implementation, and supports UN agencies to promote coordinated UN joint programming that advances gender equality and the empowerment of women. The Group develops policy and advocacy messages for joint initiatives and coordinates UN events such as International Women’s Day, International Day of the Girl Child and International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign. It also coordinates development partners, donors, academia, universities and private sector companies on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The Group also engages in intergovernmental processes such as the Beijing+25 review, implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals, and also supports civil society organisations to undertake initiatives on achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment.
