UN Women Executive Board undertakes a pivotal mission to Moldova and Ukraine

Date:

From 14 - 22 May, the UN Women Executive Board will be on a mission to Moldova and Ukraine to strengthen partnerships and strategies for advancing gender equality in these countries and beyond, aligning with UN Women's regional and global strategies.

In Moldova, the Executive Board will hold meetings with key stakeholders, government officials, civil society organizations, and women entrepreneurs to discuss initiatives supporting ending violence against women, women's economic empowerment and peacebuilding.

In Ukraine, the Executive Board will meet government representatives, civil society organizations, and women beneficiaries, including internally displaced women, to address the challenges women face in the context of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Discussions will focus on several key areas: exploring the role of women’s civil society organizations in the humanitarian response and gender-responsive recovery efforts; strategizing ways to enhance women's economic empowerment; facilitating knowledge exchange and sharing experiences regarding the status of women and girls affected by the war; supporting the EU accession process; and implementing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda in Ukraine, with a particular emphasis on addressing conflict-related sexual violence issues.
