During the 16 Days of Activism, Business Fights Poverty are holding a Virtual Gender Summit on Thursday 3rd December 2020 in partnership with UN Women, CDC Group, The 2X Challenge and CARE International.

Their targeted and purposeful agenda, includes vital sessions to encourage partnership and collaboration to #RebuildBetter following the COVID-19 pandemic by: responding to the surge in gender-based violence during the pandemic, listening to women entrepreneurs and directly supporting their businesses and exploring the business case for gender-lens investing.

UN Women’s session from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM (GMT) is a Women’s Entrepreneurship Showcase, bringing you concrete ways you can get involved to help our economies during this crisis.

Throughout the session you will hear from women entrepreneurs across Europe and Central Asia talking about their passion, their businesses, their challenges (especially during COVID-19) and specifically what help they need in order to grow and improve their businesses.

Alia El-Yassir and Blerta Cela, the Regional Director and Deputy Regional Director of UN Women Europe and Central Asia open and close the session by inviting you and your business to join us in three core areas:

  1. The Regional Business and Entrepreneurship Expo, 2021
  2. The 2021 Gender Equality Forum Action Coalitions
  3. The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and the 2021 Europe and Central Asia WEPs Awards

The Regional Business and Entrepreneurship Expo will be a highlight event in 2021 for women’s economic justice and empowerment in the region of Europe and Central Asia. The expo brings a host of events to foster partnerships between our women entrepreneurs in Europe and Central Asia region and our private sector partners across the globe. You will be joined by entrepreneurs, start-up founders, business owners, angel and venture capital investors, legislators, UN good will ambassadors, influencers and other key figures across our region.

The events during the Expo will include:

  • A showcase of products from women entrepreneurs,
  • Partnership and investment opportunities in women’s businesses and in a regional e-commerce platform,
  • Cross-country and cross-industry networking,
  • Pitching sessions and private working sessions,
  • Training and knowledge sharing opportunities.

Our women entrepreneurs will be at the centre of all of these sessions, and you will have the opportunity to make direct and immediate impacts. If you want to be a key partner in this Expo, you also have the opportunity to lead and shape certain sessions. Just register your interest now and we will get in touch with details.

By taking part we also offer you the opportunity for visibility across UN Women’s media platforms and with our partners. In particular you will be able to showcase your good practices and results with our 2021 Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards.

The WEPs awards focus on recognition for all the efforts of individuals and businesses to promote gender-inclusive business cultures and the achievement of gender equality in Europe and Central Asia. Even if you are not a signatory of the WEPs, you can still apply for the awards (on the condition of signature if selected as a finalist).

In responding to the needs of women and girls in Europe and Central Asia, the mobilisation of the private sector is pivotal. Thus, a ceremony to celebrate the work so far and to inspire continuation of work will set a positive and action-oriented agenda for the following years.

Register your interest now and we will get in touch with details.

Finally, we plan to give visibility and further opportunities through recognising your outstanding leadership via the Global Action Coalitions. These are particularly pivotal for your organisation since they give you the opportunity to join as a lead or a member in shaping, co-creating and advocating for immediate and collective global actions within the period of 2021-2026.

You can connect with public and private sector leaders and change pioneers and drive forward new solutions to redesign our societies. Don’t miss out on these opportunities to take part, lead and co-create with other businesses, investors, start-ups, foundations and key figures.

For a better recovery and future for all, join us to make change together.

Register your interest now and we will be in touch with more details about all these opportunities.
