Event description

The UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia is convening a dedicated space for civil society from the region in preparation for the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), which will take place from 11 to 22 March 2024. The consultation aims to facilitate consensus on essential joint messages that will shape the sub-regional and constituency-specific visions of civil society. These messages will encapsulate diverse perspectives, experiences, and recommendations aligned with the main theme of the 68th session - “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective.”

The consultation will specifically tackle challenges and opportunities in advancing gender equality and women's empowerment, focusing on poverty alleviation, strengthening social protection, unveiling and addressing unpaid care work, women's participation in the labor force, and financing with a gender perspective. The outcome of this regional consultation is expected to culminate in a civil society position paper.

The event will be conducted primarily in English with simultaneous translation to Albanian, Armenian, Bosnian- Montenegrin-Serbian, Macedonian, Turkish, Georgian, Romanian, Russian, and Ukrainian.
