10 years of the Istanbul Convention

The Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention) is the first international legally binding instrument in our fight to improve policies, provide services for women victims of violence and ultimately save lives. The Istanbul Convention recognizes violence against women as a violation of human rights and a form of discrimination against women. Today, after 10 years from its signature, it is more important than ever to continue working diligently so that every woman can live a life free from violence. This video was produced by the Council of Europe and Turkish subtitles were added to the original video by UN Women.
