Supporting women economic resilience through local tourism

COVID-19 is seriously damaging the Albanian economy, especially rural tourism. Tourism decline puts a strain on the farms and guest houses in the upper Vjosa river, where local women work and earn a living. Elona, Leonora, Anila, Mirela and Zhenisa, who are working in this area, have seen the collapse of visitor numbers amid the pandemic. Now, in this new reality they are counting on local tourists. These women local entrepreneurs are providing for themselves, their workers, and the whole community around them. This video was supported by a UN joint project aiming to promote and create sustainable business models and social enterprises with a focus on the green and sustainable economy, funded by the Government of Norway.
