Photography united more than 100 Turkish and Syrian women across Turkey

For the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, UN Women Turkey brought 4 university students from Colombia and Palestine together with more than 100 Turkish and Syrian women and conducted “Light the Dark” photography workshops. Organized in Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Mardin and İzmir, the workshops provided a free space to interact with each other and to try photography as a way of expression. At the end of the workshop series, a photography exhibition was created. Enabling an inter-generational and inter-cultural learning environment, the workshops revealed that despite their diverse backgrounds, women participants demand an equal future. The workshops were conducted within the framework of UN Women-led project funded by the European Union and the Government of Japan. #EUMADADFund
