12 artists “lighted the dark” with 10 art installations at a park in Ankara

During the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, UN Women Turkey, in partnership with the Swedish Embassy, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Çankaya Municipality, launched the “Light the Dark” campaign and opened Turkey’s first-ever outdoor light installation exhibition to draw attention to violence against women and girls and gender inequality. 12 contemporary artists expressed their thoughts and feelings on gender-based violence using light and the interdisciplinary, pluralistic and free language of contemporary art. The exhibition was a part of the nationwide “Light the Dark” campaign drawing attention to violence against women and girls in public spaces and creating safer cities.
