UNiTE Campaign: 16 Days to Orange Your World 2013

In September 2013 the UN Secretary-General's Campaign UNiTE to End Violence against Women issued an invitation to activists, UN entities and civil society to participate in a global action to "Orange the World in 16 Days" from 25 November on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women to 10 December, Human Rights Day. During the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence, the UNiTE campaign encouraged activists to reach out to friends and partner organizations, and to organize local and national 'orange' events to highlight the issue and paint the symbolic image of a brighter future in which violence against women is eradicated. Governments, celebrities, media, civil society organizations and the United Nations system participated in a range of events including marches, marathons, panel discussions, concerts and film festivals, turning beaches, parks, public transport and cyberspace orange.
