Public figures in Kosovo urge for ending violence against women

UN Women produced an awareness raising video in Kosovo[1], in collaboration with the Security and Gender Group (a multi-stakeholder group headed by UN Women), showing five popular public figures delivering a strong message to end violence against women and girls. Uta Ibrahimi, the first Kosovan woman alpinist to reach the Himalayan peaks and a young entrepreneur; Blerim Vuniqi, former basketball player and famous sports journalist; Captain Tahire Haxholli, Head of the Domestic Violence Unit at Kosovo Police; Adriatik Kelmendi, a prominent journalist, television host and academician; and Adriana Matoshi, a well-known movie and theatre actress participated in the video urging people not to stay silent and take action against violence. The video was launched on 25 November 2017 to commemorate International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and start the 16 Days of Activism Campaign.[1] All references to Kosovo on this channel shall be understood to be in full compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999).
