UN Women’s Country Gender Equality Brief (CGEB) provides a snapshot of the status of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Republic of Moldova, particularly as measured against the gender-related indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Framed under the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, the CGEB also summarises if and how women from underrepresented groups are affected by a number of different discriminations.

The CGEB was developed through a desk review only. The CGEB methodology does not entail processing raw data and compiling data to measure specific indicators. Rather, the CGEB captures current statistics and research based on a document review. The following areas are reflected in the Brief: gender dimensions of poverty, demographic overview, gender dimension in health, education, women in leadership, gender-based violence and gender dimensions of labour and economic empowerment.

The CGEB will serve to strengthen the national capacity to monitor the implementation of gender equality and women's empowerment commitments and will serve as an evidence-driven advocacy instrument to trigger concrete change for women and girls.
