Supporting Women Experiencing Violence During The Coronavirus Pandemic In Serbia

Date: 20 November 2020

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, it was difficult to predict the impact it would have on domestic violence.  Armed with information that flowed daily from the civil society organizations (CSOs) providing services to women survivors of violence across Serbia, UN Women acted swiftly and redirected funds to CSOs to support and continue essential service provision. This assistance assured continuity of services, including 24/7 SOS helplines, which became crucial as requests for help by victims rose on average by 30 per cent.
