23-26 August, 2012, 10th World Taekwondo (ITF) Championships among juniors and 5th championship among veterans took place in Tallinn. The competition was attended by more than 800 athletes from 60 countries; the total number of participants of the championship was over 1,000 people. In the course of the championship and the Congress of the International Federation of Taekwondo (ITF), the National Federation of Taekwondo and Kickboxing of the Republic of Tajikistan, as a partner of the UN Secretary General's campaign "UNiTE to End Violence against Women" held an information campaign to fight violence against women and girls.

Remarkably, the initiative of the Tajikistan National Taekwondo and Kickboxing Federation on conducting the event devoted to "Orange Day" was supported by almost all participating teams.

Heads of International Taekwon-Do Federation, judges, athletes and other guests wore orange outfits and accessories in solidarity with the UN Secretary General's campaign "UNiTE to End Violence against Women" thus demonstrating their support and commitment to combating violence against women and girls. In addition to the conducted information campaign the call was spread with request to join the “Orange Day” campaign on the 25th day of each month as commitment to support prevention and eradication of violence against women and girls.

In addition, a video about the joint work of the National Taekwondo and Kickboxing Federation of Tajikistan with United Nations Country Team, UNFPA, UN Women, UNHCR, and the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace was demonstrated to participants.

Chairman of the Women's Committee of the International Taekwondo Federation, Ms. Linda Low (Australia) thanked the National Federation of Taekwondo Tajikistan for their long-term efforts to advocate the rights of women and the involvement of boys and men leaders into the UN SG’s Campaign "UNiTE to End Violence against Women". Noteworthy, during the world championship the team of the National Taekwondo and Kickboxing Federation of Tajikistan won 18 medals in the team scoring and was ranked as 3rd best team, next the teams from North Korea and Russia.

Within the framework of the UN Secretary-General's campaign "UNiTE" 25th day of each month will be marked as "Orange Day" - in order to draw public attention and prevent violence against women and girls. The campaign was launched on July 25, 2012 and will be held each month, until March 2013, when the 57th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women is expected to be held in the New York. UN Country Team in Tajikistan joined "Orange Day" since the launch of the campaign, and will continue its work in support of the campaign.
