UN Women chairs the UN Results Group on Gender in Turkey, which tries to trigger a gender responsive and relevant UN system that promotes policies, programmes and operations that protect human rights and promote equitable development for women, men, girls and boys.

The UN Results Group on Gender ensures gender mainstreaming in UN Development Cooperation Strategy Turkey (UNDCS) planning and implementation, and supports UN agencies to promote coordinated UN joint programming that advances gender equality and the empowerment of women. The Group develops policy and advocacy messages for joint advocacy initiatives and coordinates UN events such as International Women’s Day or the 16 Days of Activism. It also coordinates with development partners on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Through successful facilitation by UN Women, gender equality and women’s empowerment are a stand-alone pillar of the UNDCS 2016-2020 and mainstreamed under six other UNDCS 2016-2020 outcomes. As Chair of the UN Results Group on Gender Equality, UN Women Turkey supports delivery and monitoring of these outcomes.
