UN Women in Uzbekistan invites eligible civil society organizations to apply for Small Grants of up to USD 8,000 to strengthen the institutional capacities of civil society organizations working on the protection of survivors of violence, as well as legislative engagement and knowledge-sharing activities.

This Call for Applications is launched under the Challenging Harmful Attitudes and Norms for Gender Equality (CHANGE) programme, a European Union-funded Multi-Country Programme implemented jointly by UNDP, UNFPA and UN Women in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Through this call, UN Women aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and to support evidence-based legislative reform and advocacy in Uzbekistan. 

Eligible applicants

Applicants must be civil society organizations working on gender-based violence (GBV) and women's rights legally established and operating in Uzbekistan for at least 3 years.

Eligible activities

Small Grants may support activities under the following areas:

  • Institutional Capacity Building, including strengthening organizational systems, tools and processes; training staff and volunteers; and mentorship and coaching to enhance organizational sustainability and advocacy capacities.
  • Legislative Advocacy and Policy Engagement, including research and evidence generation, development of advocacy materials, stakeholder engagement, participation in legislative and policy processes, and evidence-based advocacy on gender-based violence and women's rights.
  • Networking and Knowledge Sharing, including peer learning, collaboration, exchange of good practices, and development and dissemination of knowledge products.

Support for equipment (such as laptops, computers, printers, scanners and copiers) may be provided where directly related to the proposed activities. The cost of equipment must not exceed 30% of the total proposed budget.

The proposed budget must not exceed USD 8,000, and the proposed project duration should be up to 12 months.

  • All documents related to application must be attached into one single e-mail. Applications sent through online filing tools will not be considered.

An online information meeting for potential applicants will be held on 3 August 2026, 14:00–15:00 (Uzbekistan time).
