A new coalition to drive greater action on economic rights and justice for women in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was launched at a high-level event on 5 October. The new Action Coalition for Economic Justice and Rights will focus on the economy of care.

Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), a collaborative effort between UN Women and Global Compact Turkey, provide a framework of 7 principles for the private sector to guide their work towards gender equality. An Implementation Guide has been prepared to offer guidance to businesses that have signed the WEPs and made a commitment to implement the principles. A meeting held to launch the Guide brought together company CEOs and representatives of civil society organizations as well as United Nations agencies.

Making gender equality and women’s empowerment a reality requires dedicated and consistent funding. Highlighting the key role that financing for gender equality will have for the future global development agenda, UN Women, in collaboration with the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITC-ILO) and the European Commission (EC) convened a global workshop entitled “Increasing Financing for Gender Equality: Lessons Learned and the Way Forward,” from 3-5 June 2015 in Brussels, Belgium.
