The Government of Ukraine and UN Women signed the Host Country Agreement, which elevates the status of UN Women to a Country Office in Ukraine. This will also allow to broaden and deepen the partnership on gender equality and women’s empowerment in Ukraine.

UN Women, with a delegation led by its Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, are taking part in the European Development Days , Europe’s leading forum on international cooperation and development, from 5-6 June in Brussels. The event gathers every year more than 6,000 participants from over 140 countries. The overarching theme of the 12 edition of the forum will be "Women and Girls at the Forefront of Sustainable Development: protect, empower, invest".

A.H. Monjurul Kabir, Chief of Asia-Pacific & Least Developed Countries Section with UN Women HQ in New York, is currently leading UN Women’s global engagements and portfolio on South-South and Triangular Cooperation. During his 18-year career in this field, Mr. Kabir’s work has spanned shaping and influencing public policies, promoting institutional development, as well as working with and for vulnerable groups and marginalized communities in making development work for the poor.

Mila Carovska has been the Minister of Labour and Social Policy for the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia since May 2017. She is a long-standing human rights activist with extensive experience in the NGO sector and an independent expert in social protection, sexual reproductive rights and gender equality. The Ministry is a partner of UN Women in advancing the gender equality agenda and combatting violence against women in the country.

UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will visit Oslo, Norway from 22 –23 May, for the annual consultations, which provide the opportunity to discuss the status of gender equality in Norway, as well as Norway’s contribution to achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide—a top priority that Norway and UN Women share.

UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia and Representative to Turkey Ingibjorg Gisladottir and UN Women Programme Division Director Maria Noel Vaeza visited Bosnia and Herzegovina from 11-13 October to join a UN Trust Fund on Ending Violence against Women Knowledge Exchange event in Sarajevo They met with representatives from the BiH government, civil society organizations and partners to discuss issues such as aligning BiH’s gender agenda with the Sustainable Development Goals, and visited and received feedback from UN Women beneficiaries.
