This publication presents the key findings of the rapid assessment conducted by UN Women and KAGİDER to identify the needs of women entrepreneurs operating in the provinces that were hit by the two major earthquakes in and around Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye on 6 February.

On February 6th, 2023, Türkiye was struck by two significant earthquakes that resulted in widespread devastation in the Southeast region of the country, affecting 11 provinces with a population of around 14 million (16.4% of the total population of the country). This brief explains the impact of the earthquake, needs and priorities of women and girls and UN Women's response efforts on the ground.

Moving towards the Gender Equality Index, Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022 presents data and index scores for two full domains, Knowledge and Power and the partial data and index sources for Work and Health as set by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) methodology on analysing the state of gender equality in a society. The report will support the establishment of an evidence base for future effots in achievieng gender equality.

This brief is a consolidation of some of the best practices introduced in 2020 across UN Women ECA offices on building a culture of experimentation. It showcases innovative approaches that can be further replicated across the region to provide solutions for promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.

UN Women’s Country Gender Equality Brief (CGEB) provides a snapshot of the status of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Republic of Moldova, particularly as measured against the gender-related indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Framed under the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, the CGEB also summarises if and how women from underrepresented groups are affected by a number of different discriminations.

This brief summarizes the key findings of the assessment, which looked into the availability of data that can be used to evaluate the gendered impacts of COVID-19 in Uzbekistan. It showcases available data and key data gaps in five thematic areas, and highlights the need for more and better gender statistics and sex-disaggregated data to guide the development of a gender-responsive approach for effective mitigation and recovery efforts.

The three-year project, "Strengthening civil society capacities and multi-stakeholder partnerships to advance women’s rights and gender equality in Turkey," financed by the European Union, aims to help women’s rights groups, women-led civil society organizations (CSOs) and other relevant rights-based CSOs improve their capacity to influence national and local women’s rights and gender equality agendas.

The reports of this series focus on rethinking the care economy and empowering women; present key findings and conclude with policy recommendations. The series of knowledge products feature regional analysis of Europe and Central Asia on unpaid work, regional investment study, and country reports of Serbia, Kyrgyzstan, and Moldova.

This gender analysis identifies the most significant impacts of COVID-19 on gender equality in the region in order to inform gender-sensitive national response, recovery, planning and investment. It examines the impacts in five areas that were identified as priorities for ECA during the 2019 Regional Review Meeting on implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (Beijing+25). Key actions for sustainable recovery are also presented, with detailed recommendations.

As a part of the regional effort, UN Women conducted a Rapid Gender Assessment (RGA) survey in Bosnia and Herzegovina seeking to identify the impacts of COVID-19 on the population and specific implications of the impact on gender inequalities. The assessment concentrates on the gender aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on how women’s and men’s lives have been impacted and changed in the face of COVID-19.

The policy briefs present the outcomes of the series of the subregional virtual consultations udnertaken in October-November 2020 and outline structural and legal barriers women and girls face, demands from feminists and women's rights advocates and key recommendations for the Generation Equality Forum.

This study aims at identifying key factors and trends in the participation of women in the digital sector in education, career and entrepreneurship at a national level. The analysis concluded into country-specific recommendations to develop a set of national initiatives fostering participation of women and girls in the ICT sector.

This assessment aims to explore and understand how the changing situation with the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting women and men differently and how local communities are addressing it in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Drawing on the COVID-19 Global Gender Response Tracker, a global database compiled by UNDP and UN Women, this factsheet provides an overview of policy measures adopted by governments in Europe and Central Asia across three key dimensions: the surge in violence against women and girls, the increased burden of unpaid care work, and women’s economic insecurity due to losses in income, livelihood and jobs.

The UN Development Programme in collaboration with UN Women and UN Food and Agriculture Organization led the socio-economic assessment of the impact on businesses and households in Ukraine. This report presents an assessment of the social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on Ukraine, with a focus on those groups which are, or have become vulnerable due to the pandemic, as well as the impact on micro, small and medium enterprises.

This publication provides an overview of key results achieved by UN Women in terms of COVID-19 response and recovery in its programme countries and territories in Europe and Central Asia between March and August 2020.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, shrinking working hours, increased care burdens, and heightened violence have exacerbated the challenges that women and girls face. Unless action is taken, by 2021 around 435 million women and girls will be living in extreme poverty, including 47 million pushed into poverty as a result of COVID-19. This publication presents the latest evidence on the multiple impacts of the pandemic on women and girls.

Women are disproportionately affected by the social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey which is deepening the pre-existing gender inequalities. A new study entitled "Rapid gender assessment of COVID-19 implications in Turkey" conducted by UN Women Turkey and financed by Sweden through Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) reveals the different socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 on women and men.

The publication presents the findings of the Rapid Gender Assessment for the COVID-19 situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted jointly by UN Women and UNFPA Kazakhstan in April and May 2020.
