The book on Art and Creativity for Gender Equality which was created by UN Women Türkiye Communications Team presents some of the most characteristic communication activities performed by UN Women Türkiye between 2019 and 2022.

Active in Kazakhstan since 1999, UN Women country team works in partnership with the Government, civil society and other institutions to ensure equality of rights and opportunities for women and girls across the country.

The war in Ukraine has had devasting impact on women and girls worldwide, widening gender gaps, and increasing rates of food insecurity, malnutrition and energy poverty. The ensuing cost-of-living crisis has acutely threatened women’s livelihoods, health, and wellbeing and stymied progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The “Inter-Generational Dialogue on Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” outcome document reflects ideas and suggestions discussed at an International Women's Day event organized by UN Women in cooperation with the United Nations organizations in Türkiye. The document proposes a series of recommendations in tackling the climate crises and its impacts on women and girls.

UN Women Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (ECA RO) supported partners in the region by convening a series of subregional consultations to examine achievements, challenges, and gaps as well as actions to aintegrate gender equality into climate change policies both at the local and regional level. For this purpose, UN Women ECA RO partnered with the Government of Turkemnistan in organizing virtual sub-regional consultations for Central Asia and with the Government of Serbia, for the subregional consultations for the Western Balkan countries and Turkey in February 2022.

During the Third Regional Forum on Ending Violence against Women in the Western Balkans and Turkey, representatives from governments, regional institutions and civil society from the Western Balkans and Turkey adopted a road map to advance work with perpetrators, leverage data through establishing femicide watches, promote social norms that favour equality, and make necessary amendments in laws, policies and budgets to provide fully funded, sustainable and high-quality services for survivors of violence.

“Implementing Gender-Responsive Planning and Budgeting in Turkey” project aims to empower women and further strengthen gender equality in Turkey through systematic and sustainable integration of gender perspective at all stages of national and local policy-making and budgeting processes.

The Country Gender Equality Profile will serve as an analytical and operational document, including an overview of opportunities to address the gaps identified through desk review and analysis. The report analyses the gender equality situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the area of governance, political participation, and decision-making; economic environment; healthcare and social protection; education; civic participation; and human security.

This study aims at identifying key factors and trends in the participation of women in the digital sector in education, career and entrepreneurship at a national level. The analysis concluded into country-specific recommendations to develop a set of national initiatives fostering participation of women and girls in the ICT sector.

The purpose of UN Women’s Country Gender Equality Brief (CGEB) is to provide a snapshot of gender equality and the situation of women in Albania, particularly against the gender-related indicators across the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Following the UN Women corporate methodology and template, and in consultation with the UN Country Team (UNCT) in Albania, the CGEB is based on a literature review and uses official data produced before (and partially during) the COVID-19-induced crisis.

The report offers a concise, data-driven look at the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and issues a clarion call for stepping up progress to realize the promises of Beijing. It covers countries from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe region and it is based on available data and information in the regional and global databases.

Health emergencies such as COVID-19, and the response to them, can exacerbate gender inequality and derail hard-won progress not only on SDG 3 but on all the SDGs. This paper draws insights from emerging data and shines a spotlight on the long-term impact of the crisis on the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The paper concludes by outlining policy priorities drawn from the evidence presented.

This year’s regular resources report analyses how UN Women mobilized its core contributions in 2019 to fulfil its normative, coordination, and operational activities mandate, in order to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide. Through the presentation of tangible results, this report presents case studies at the global, regional, and country levels to showcase the impact that regular resources have in the countries where UN Women is present.

The guidelines offer practical guidance to the national governments and service providers in the Western Balkans and Turkey on how to better respond to the needs of women and girls victims of violence throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and once lockdown measures are lifted.

The report on “The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on specialist services for victims and survivors of violence in the Western Balkans and Turkey: A proposal for addressing the needs” is a rapid assessment of specialist services to women who experienced violence to better understand the challenges posed to service delivery, as well as to explore new opportunities for innovative approaches in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The rapid assessment was undertaken within the EU-UN Women Regional Programme “Implementing Norms, Changing Minds.”

This brief provides background information on the root causes and risk factors that explain why violence against women occurs in the first place. It highlights how the context of COVID-19 is exacerbating those factors and the impact it is having on rates of violence against women and the ability to undertake evidence-based prevention work in the current context. It provides indicative interventions that can be undertaken during social distancing.

This report presents a review of the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995) and its interplay with the implementation of the first four years of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by member States of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
