The Baseline Study on Care Economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina aims to build understanding of the disproportionate distribution of responsibility for care as a source of inequality, focusing on gender, and help initiate positive change that will lead to the more equitable distribution of the provision of care in households and communities and thereby contribute towards women’s empowerment.

The regional report “Social and institutional responses to femicide in Albania, Montenegro and Serbia” was developed by FemPlatz with the technical support of UN Women in the framework of the regional programme on ending violence against women in the Western Balkans and Türkiye “Implementing Norms, Changing Minds,” funded by the European Union. The report – the result of three years’ work to develop a framework for understanding the characteristics, patterns, and causes of femicide – is the first interdisciplinary research on the societal and institutional response to femicide in Albania, Montenegro and Serbia.

With the aim of galvanizing global action against this all-too-pervasive crime, UNODC and UN Women have joined forces to produce this research paper on the global estimates of gender-related killings of women and girls in the private sphere in 2021.

Moving towards the Gender Equality Index, Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022 presents data and index scores for two full domains, Knowledge and Power and the partial data and index sources for Work and Health as set by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) methodology on analysing the state of gender equality in a society. The report will support the establishment of an evidence base for future effots in achievieng gender equality.

The war in Ukraine has had devasting impact on women and girls worldwide, widening gender gaps, and increasing rates of food insecurity, malnutrition and energy poverty. The ensuing cost-of-living crisis has acutely threatened women’s livelihoods, health, and wellbeing and stymied progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Levers of Change: Gender Equality Attitudes Study 2022, is the latest iteration of a bi-annual global study that tracks attitudes towards gender. The study, developed under the leadership of UN Women in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, Kantar, Procter & Gamble and Unilever, examines perceptions across a multitude of areas including leadership and political participation, education, healthcare, the workplace, media representation, marriage and family life, safety and violence, and control over personal decisions.

In 2021, UN Women Turkey implemented a diverse portfolio of projects and programmes, adapting them to respond to the growing and changing needs of women and girls. Highlights 2021 report tells UN Women Turkey's story over the year 2021 and presents its work and main results achieved under the programmes and campaigns.

This policy support tool is prepared in the framework of the UN Women and ILO Joint Programme titled “Promoting Decent Employment for Women through Inclusive Growth Policies and Investments in the Care Economy” and as part of the UN-wide response initiatives to be included in the UN Socio-Economic Response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The European Union Gender Country Profile for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2021 was developed as part of the obligations specified within the European Union Gender Action Plan III (EU GAP III). The publication is structured around the EU GAP III thematic areas and objectives and also includes a brief elaboration of the country context; key features of the country's political organization; relations with the EU and the social and economic context.

This advocacy brief presents the impacts of COVID-19 on refugee and migrant women and girls and the importance of including their specific needs and rights in COVID-19 recovery plans. Jointly published by Issue-Based Coalitions on Gender Equality (IBC- GE) and Large Movements of People, Displacement and Resilience (IBC-LMPDR) for Europe and Central Asia, the brief offers solid recommendations on socio-economic recovery; social protection, education and healthcare; and gender-based violence including domestic violence to build back better and equal from COVID-19.

This publication presents data and insights about the perceptions of male and female roles in society, employment and leadership, household and family, gender-based violence, sexual relationships and reproductive health in the Eastern Partnership countries and provides recommendations for future programming.

The objective of the gender-responsive crisis management guidebook is to develop practical and functional guidelines for private sector to address crisis in a gender responsive way. It is highly likely that future crises, whether it is another pandemic, natural disaster, mass migration, security or technology issue, will have their unique impact on gender equality. The lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic should allow businesses to prepare better for the next crises.
