The European Union Gender Country Profile for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2021 was developed as part of the obligations specified within the European Union Gender Action Plan III (EU GAP III). The publication is structured around the EU GAP III thematic areas and objectives and also includes a brief elaboration of the country context; key features of the country's political organization; relations with the EU and the social and economic context.

This gender analysis identifies the most significant impacts of COVID-19 on gender equality in the region in order to inform gender-sensitive national response, recovery, planning and investment. It examines the impacts in five areas that were identified as priorities for ECA during the 2019 Regional Review Meeting on implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (Beijing+25). Key actions for sustainable recovery are also presented, with detailed recommendations.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, shrinking working hours, increased care burdens, and heightened violence have exacerbated the challenges that women and girls face. Unless action is taken, by 2021 around 435 million women and girls will be living in extreme poverty, including 47 million pushed into poverty as a result of COVID-19. This publication presents the latest evidence on the multiple impacts of the pandemic on women and girls.

A new study entitled "Rapid gender assessment of COVID-19 implications in Turkey" conducted by UN Women Turkey and financed by Sweden through Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) reveals the different socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 on women and men.

This rapid assessment examines how the impacts of COVID-19 are threatening women’s ability to access justice. This study presents the findings of an application of a method developed for the United Kingdom (UK) to the case of the North Macedonia, which estimates the annual fiscal cost of public investment in early childhood education and care services. In particular, the study examines several important outcomes of investing in early childcare: direct and indirect employment creation; impact on gender employment gap; related increases in tax revenues.

This 2-page brief presents an overview of pay inequality in Europe and Central Asia and how this issue is covered in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It also provides information about the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC), a joint initiative of ILO, UN Women and OECD, which aims to support governments, employers and workers and their organizations, and other stakeholders, to make equal pay between women and men for work of equal value a reality, and reduce the gender pay gap.

This is the first study that examines female inactivity in details, based on a large, representative sample of female citizens in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Data enable us to develop a profile of the “typical” inactive woman in the country, which can be then used to design policies to promote female activity, with particular emphasis on women whose inactivity is not their individual choice.

Gender Brief Albania 2016 gives an overview and analysis of gender equality in Albania. It captures on-going work, reviews progress and identifies gaps in implementing Albania’s international and national commitments on gender equality and the empowerment of women. To support EU policy makers in tailoring pre-accession assistance to the Government of Albania, it presents priority actions to improve the lives of Albanian women and girls in six key areas and identifies new, emerging sectors that require action.

This report on the status of domestic workers in Kazakhstan examines the policies and procedures of Kazakh domestic worker employment agencies and the gender mainstreaming and migration issues domestic workers face. Conducted as part of the second phase of the Regional Migration Programme implemented by the IOM, UN Women and the World Bank, the study recommends ways to improve the legislation and law enforcement practices governing Kazakhstan’s private employment agencies.

One of the first of its kind in Central Asia, this study by Moscow's Migration Research Centre assesses the needs and priorities of Central Asian and internal migrant domestic workers in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia and Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan. Its findings provide the basis for further work to improve the policies regulating domestic workers.
