Women in Central Asia call on politicians, leaders and partners to advance the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Central Asia. In raising their voices, they call for removal of barriers to their meaningful participation in peace processes, building solidarity and support for women across the subregion, and ensuring safety for women human rights defenders and peace activists, amongst others.

In September 2021, UN Women brought together more than 30 women peacebuilders, mediators and civil society organizations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to discuss challenges, build solidarity and put forward recommendations to advance the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in the Central Asian subregion.

A gender analysis of 477 government socio-economic policy responses adopted in 18 countries and territories in Europe and Central Asia over the first year of COVID-19, reveals that only 7 per cent specifically reference women and can be classified as gender-sensitive. This calls for governments to prioritize gender-responsive policy responses in the context of COVID-19 and emergencies. Measures recorded were in relation to social protection, labour market, and economic, fiscal and business stimulus.

The region's first 'Women’s Entrepreneurship Expo' was a comprehensive virtual event held between 27-29 April 2021. This report presents how interactive ideas generation sessions and networking expanded the potential of women entrepreneurs. It offers entrepreneurial learning and resources on topics related to: business blueprint modelling; branding and marketing; entering demand-supply and value chains; rethinking digital sales and e-commerce; financial goals and resilience building; and developing and pitching winnable business plans.

This series of reports investigate and analyze the role of women in preventing and countering violent extremism, and the effect of violent extremism on women in Central Asia and the Western Balkans.

This analytical brief contributes to the discussion of women's representation in the government by focusing on one specific level of government - jamoats (municipal) councils. By mapping the levels of female representation in these councils, the brief attempts to highlight successes and failures in ensuring women's representation.

This compendium by “MEASURE Evaluation” presents gender-sensitive HIV-related indicators that can be used for a gender-balanced HIV response. The indicators aim to raise Central Asian stakeholders' awareness and understanding of the response to the HIV epidemic from a gender equality perspective. They can be used to monitor progress in eliminating gender-based inequalities in HIV responses and to evaluate programmes that address specific gender-equality HIV interventions.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 1995 4th World Conference on Women, which produced the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most progressive blueprint ever for advancing women’s rights. In 2015 the Commission on the Status of Women will carry out a review and appraisal of the implementation of the BPfA and the outcomes of the 23rd Special Session of the General Assembly (2000).

Around the world, a record number of women are now migrating to seek work and better lives. For many, migration yields these benefits; for others, it carries dangerous risks, such as exploitation in domestic work, and vulnerability to violence.
