In September 2021, UN Women brought together more than 30 women peacebuilders, mediators and civil society organizations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to discuss challenges, build solidarity and put forward recommendations to advance the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in the Central Asian subregion.

To continue this important dialogue and encourage a wider partners’ engagement and contributions for the CSW65, UN Women Europe and Central Asia Regional Office supported partners in the region to conduct subregional/localized preparatory consultations to examine achievements and challenges, and existing gaps as well as actions to be taken to accelerate the implementation of gender equality commitments both at the local and regional level.

The “Looking beyond 2020: Advancing women, peace and security” consultations were organized by the UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the UN Women Georgia Country Office. The Concluding Observations on the Eighth Periodic Report of Ukraine were provided by the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women to Ukraine on 3 March 2017. Conducted in October 2014, this study analyses the inclusion of women in Kosovo’s political institutions and parties. It outlines the challenges and obstacles women face to increased participation in decision-making positions in public institutions, and makes several recommendations. This report examines the wage differential between women and men in Albania. It finds that the gap is due largely to labour market rewards – men being able to charge more, experience loss by women, occupational segregation, lack of child care and part-time work – that disadvantage women and reduce their wages. It notes a reduction in the wage gap from 36 per cent in 2005 to 17.63 per cent in 2008.
