Unstereotype Alliance is an industry-led initiative convened by UN Women in 2017 to end the harmful gender stereotyping often perpetuated through communications.The Alliance is a “think and do” platform that uses communications as a force for good to drive positive change, focused on empowering people in all their diversity (gender identity, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, age, ability, sexuality, language, religion, education, body-size and more).

The report summarizes UN Women’s key areas of progress and results during the first five months of the full-fledged war in Ukraine. The lives of women and men across Ukraine have been profoundly impacted by the crisis brought on by the escalation to a full-fledged war on 24 February 2022. UN Women acted swiftly to ensure that women and girls affected by the war are supported and that the humanitarian response to the crisis is gender sensitive.

To continue this important dialogue and encourage a wider partners’ engagement and contributions for the CSW65, UN Women Europe and Central Asia Regional Office supported partners in the region to conduct subregional/localized preparatory consultations to examine achievements and challenges, and existing gaps as well as actions to be taken to accelerate the implementation of gender equality commitments both at the local and regional level.

The “Looking beyond 2020: Advancing women, peace and security” consultations were organized by the UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the UN Women Georgia Country Office. As a result of the consultations, participants issued concrete and actionable recommendations to remove barriers to women’s meaningful participation in peace processes at the formal and informal levels.

This report presents a summary of the discussions held during the first Regional Forum on Promoting the Implementation of the Istanbul Convention in the Western Balkans and Turkey.

The Concluding Observations on the Eighth Periodic Report of Ukraine were provided by the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women to Ukraine on 3 March 2017. They highlight the existing gaps and identify the actions required by Ukraine to address issues related to women’s human rights and represent the road map for the implementation of the CEDAW during the coming four years before the next state report on the implementation of the CEDAW.

Progress of the World’s Women 2015-2016: Transforming Economies, Realizing Rights, UN Women’s flagship report, shows that, all too often, women’s economic and social rights are held back, because they are forced to fit into a ‘man’s world’. But, it is possible to move beyond the status quo, to picture a world where economies are built with women’s rights at their heart.

Conducted in October 2014, this study analyses the inclusion of women in Kosovo’s political institutions and parties. It outlines the challenges and obstacles women face to increased participation in decision-making positions in public institutions, and makes several recommendations. Implemented by Kosovo’s Agency for Gender Equality with support of UN Women via the joint UNDP and European Union project, Women, Peace and Security, the study is the first activity in Kosovo’s Action Plan to implement UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

Gender Policy and Institutional Mechanisms of its Implementation in Ukraine is the National review of Ukraine's implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPA) and the outcomes of the Twenty-third Special Session of the General Assembly.

This report examines the wage differential between women and men in Albania. It finds that the gap is due largely to labour market rewards – men being able to charge more, experience loss by women, occupational segregation, lack of child care and part-time work – that disadvantage women and reduce their wages. It notes a reduction in the wage gap from 36 per cent in 2005 to 17.63 per cent in 2008.
