The report summarizes UN Women’s key areas of progress and results during the first five months of the full-fledged war in Ukraine. The lives of women and men across Ukraine have been profoundly impacted by the crisis brought on by the escalation to a full-fledged war on 24 February 2022. UN Women acted swiftly to ensure that women and girls affected by the war are supported and that the humanitarian response to the crisis is gender sensitive.

The Levers of Change: Gender Equality Attitudes Study 2022, is the latest iteration of a bi-annual global study that tracks attitudes towards gender. The study, developed under the leadership of UN Women in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, Kantar, Procter & Gamble and Unilever, examines perceptions across a multitude of areas including leadership and political participation, education, healthcare, the workplace, media representation, marriage and family life, safety and violence, and control over personal decisions.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on gender responsive budgeting in the ten Municipalities of Aerodrom, Bitola, Gjorche Petrov, Gostivar, Kochani, Kriva Palanka, Shtip, Strumica, Sveti Nikole, and Veles provide data and evidence on the impact of COVID-19 on gender-responsive programmes.

This policy support tool is prepared in the framework of the UN Women and ILO Joint Programme titled “Promoting Decent Employment for Women through Inclusive Growth Policies and Investments in the Care Economy” and as part of the UN-wide response initiatives to be included in the UN Socio-Economic Response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
