The “Women in politics: 2023” map, created by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and UN Women, presents new data for women in executive positions and national parliaments as of 1 January 2023. Data show that women are underrepresented at all levels of decision-making worldwide and that achieving gender parity in political life is far off.

The guidance provides a research-based analysis of perpetrator programmes in the region or the potential to develop them, within the framework of minimum standards for practice outlined by the European Network for the Work with Perpetrators of Domestic Violence, and the Istanbul Convention. As the first analysis of this kind, the document outlines recommendations for further development of survivor safety-oriented perpetrator programmes, to end violence against women in the region.

To give an overview of the functioning of safe houses for women and children victims of domestic and gender-based violence in Serbia, this analysis addresses the quality of the service provision, availability, and sufficiency of the capacities, territorial coverage, sustainability and accessibility to all women who are in need of shelter and support due to being in situation of violence.

This evaluation report documents the results of the "Changing the attitudes and behavior of police officers through the implementation of norms for the protection of victims of violence in the Tuzla Canton" project in relation to its specific objectives and expected results. Call to Action on Temporary Special Measures" is prepared for women politicians and leaders with whom UN Women Turkey cooperates under the "Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Leadership in Political and Business Life" project, funded by Sweden through Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). It is a call to action for all women leaders.

The research looks into how the implementation of good practices on community policing could contribute to prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls at the community level. This publication also provides recommendations to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and National Police of Ukraine on community policing and prevention violence against women and girls.

The findings of the assessment reveal inter alia a very low number of protection orders issued in the conflict-affected Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. This points out to low awareness of survivors of domestic violence about this protection mechanism, as well as poor quality of the legal advice received in such cases. Additionally, the assessment results show that there is a high burden of proof imposed on survivors and that children witnesses of domestic violence are rarely recognized as victims of domestic violence.

The IPU–UN Women “Women in politics: 2021” map presents global rankings for women in executive, government, and parliamentary positions as of 1 January 2021. The data shows all-time highs for the number of countries with women Heads of State or Heads of Government, as well as for the global share of women ministers.

The Regional Report examines the violence and discrimination faced by Roma women in the areas of health care, child marriage, and institutional protection and support in cases of domestic violence. Based on survey findings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, this violence and discrimination is analyzed in the context of states' obligations to comply with anti-discrimination frameworks, such as national legislation, CEDAW, and the Istanbul Convention.

The map shows progress towards gender equality in these areas at regional and national levels.

The Istanbul Convention calls for adequate and accessible support services for victims of sexual violence. In the Western Balkans and Turkey, these services are often missing, and where they do exist, they tend to be poorly implemented. This mapping report identifies the existing services in the region, examines their implementation, and highlights the gaps in service provision.
