On February 6th, 2023, Türkiye was struck by two significant earthquakes that resulted in widespread devastation in the Southeast region of the country, affecting 11 provinces with a population of around 14 million (16.4% of the total population of the country). The Rapid Gender Assessment examines how the COVID-19 crisis affects the socio-economic situation and livelihood of women and men in North Macedonia. It provides insights to the situation at a specific moment in time between the outbreak of COVID-19 and field research conducted between 8 and 20 May. Gender in society perception Study explored the knowledge, attitudes and practices of women and men of Kyrgyzstan in relation to gender equality and women’s empowerment in order to understand the remaining obstacles and develop recommendations on overcoming them.

The Regional Report examines the violence and discrimination faced by Roma women in the areas of health care, child marriage, and institutional protection and support in cases of domestic violence. Based on survey findings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, this violence and discrimination is analyzed in the context of states' obligations to comply with anti-discrimination frameworks, such as national legislation, CEDAW, and the Istanbul Convention.

Reliable, accessible and appropriately disaggregated statistics are essential for monitoring commitments to gender equality. The brief provides an overview of UN Women’s efforts to develop the capacity of countries to produce and use gender data through the "Making Every Woman and Girl Count" programme in Europe and Central Asia (ECA). It showcases key results achieved in 2018 as well as priorities for 2019.
