The lives of women and men across Ukraine have been profoundly impacted by the crisis brought on by the escalation to a full-fledged war on 24 February 2022. UN Women acted swiftly to ensure that women and girls affected by the war are supported and that the humanitarian response to the crisis is gender sensitive.

Jointly published by Issue-Based Coalitions on Gender Equality (IBC- GE) and Large Movements of People, Displacement and Resilience (IBC-LMPDR) for Europe and Central Asia, the brief offers solid recommendations on socio-economic recovery; social protection, education and healthcare; and gender-based violence including domestic violence to build back better and equal from COVID-19.

The Manual for Facilitators: Gender Sensitive Refugee Response Programmes - Capacity Development Training for Civil Society Organizations aims to ensure continuous capacity development for a more gender-responsive refugee response, focused on front-line service providers, civil society organizations that work with/for the refugee and host communities, including those involved in programme design and implementation. 

UN Women Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (ECA RO) supported partners in the region by convening a series of subregional consultations to examine achievements, challenges, and gaps as well as actions to aintegrate gender equality into climate change policies both at the local and regional level. This report on the status of domestic workers in Kazakhstan examines the policies and procedures of Kazakh domestic worker employment agencies and the gender mainstreaming and migration issues domestic workers face. Conducted as part of the second phase of the Regional Migration Programme implemented by the IOM, UN Women and the World Bank, the study recommends ways to improve the legislation and law enforcement practices governing Kazakhstan’s private employment agencies.
