The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine joins the HeForShe global movement

On 12 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, made a public HeForShe commitment on behalf of the Ministry in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has become the first state institution to join the HeForShe solidarity movement in Ukraine.
The Minister committed to a full-fledged gender audit in 2019 to promote its organizational learning. A gender audit assesses the effective institutionalization of gender equality in the policies, programmes, organisational structures and proceedings (including decision-making processes) and in the corresponding budgets. The Minister also committed to take concrete action at the individual and organisational levels to comprehensively mainstream gender in the work of the Ministry, thus contributing to advancement of gender equality in Ukraine.
“It is not a fight against, it is a fight for equal opportunities, values, for Ukraine free of stereotypes and gender bias,” said Pavlo Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The HeForShe commitment was announced at the official ceremony with the participation of the Parliament and the Government of Ukraine, as well as the representatives of foreign governments, international missions and state institutions of Ukraine.
To celebrate the HeForShe commitment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has been illuminated in signature magenta for the whole week from September 12 to September 19.
